Nyarch GNUwU/Linux-Libre

Welcome to the freest fork of the Nyarch GNU/Linux distribution! This version has everything you expect from Nyarch, but with a few important changes:

  1. Nyarch Libre comes with the linux-libre kernel by default, which is free of the closed source proprietary blobs that are included by default in the Linux kernel.
  2. Many non-free firmware drivers and other programs that ship with Nyarch have been removed for your freedom!

While weebs seeking the freest Linux experience may appreciate this distribution, there are a few caveats. If your device requires proprietary drivers, for instance for WiFi, it may not work well with Nyarch Libre. This is a consequence of the fact that many hardware devices are not open source, and the only fix for this is to replace these components.

Building

If you'd like to build Nyarch GUwU/Linux-Libre yourself, just clone the repository with git and run the steps.sh script in the Gnome directory. Note that this uses archiso, so you'll need to be running an Arch system. Building from Parabola systems are not supported at this time.

For more detailed instructions, see the documentation for Nyarch Linux, as the details are mostly the same.

Disclaimer

Please keep in mind that Nyarch Libre is in testing and it is not guaranteed to work, even if it supports your hardware. It may be suitable for daily use, and I intend to use it as a daily driver, but it may be unstable and no guarantees can be made.

If you'd like to test Nyarch Libre, or you have suggestions, please feel free to contribute!! >:3
